this is our first week to prepare for our Pyp exhibition, and we are all very excited! we had our session with ms. Jun on academic honesty and PLAGIARISM. she told us all about being principled on citing sources. then a few days after, grade 6 students visited us and introduced us to the pyp exhibition. they told us all about the process, the blog, the interview, the presentation, and how to solve group PROBLEMS. they were huge help. thanks jordy, HONORINe, and elaine.
week 2:
in the second week, the grade 6 students named adira, raditya, audrey, chris, and edbert came to grade 5. they thought us all about the pyp exhibition too. then a teacher named Mr. michael came to talk about refugees. mr. michael had some experience helping and teaching refugees in america. mr. michael told us that refugees have rights to protection, and shelter.
week 3:
Two weeks have passed and this is our third week. We had a session with Ms. Richel, (our pyp coordinator) and We made our Central Idea and Lines of Inquiry with the help of Ms. Richel and Ms. Corita (our classroom teacher). We had to improve the Central Idea and Finally came up with the best one. We got comments on how to improve the cooperation, and that's why, WE PROMISE THAT WE WILL WORK TOGETHER COOPERATIVELY.
week 4:
in the fourth week, our homeroom teacher ms. corita told us to make a blog using weebly. it was hard and confusing at first, but after that, we got used to it. MS. LEA, MS. MARiCAR AND MS. RATUU ARE OUR MENTORS. THEY HELPED US WITH OUR pyp exhibition. they helped us to improve our blog and to put more meaning into our lines of inquiry.
week 5:
in this week, our teacher brought our classmate's dad, mr. airlangga hartato. he talked about his job and the rights of workers. he is indonesia's minister of industry. the minister of industry's role is to make industrial growth. he talked about the rights of workers like working hours, minimum wage, favourable working conditions and many others.
week 6:
Wow! we can't believe that its already the 6th week of our pyp exhibition. this week, we visited tunas muda school in meruya to see their pyp exhibition. their pyp exhibition was very inspiring to us. the STUDENTS were full of confidence. as we see their performance, we felt inspired by thier work and would like to be better. then on friday, we skyped ms. grace. she is a human rights lawyer, and she often PROTECTS the rights of indigenous peoples. she talked about indigenous people. indigenous people are people who have their own culture, identity and heritage. they have a special relationship with the earth. another word to call them are "forest people" or "natives".
week 7:
this week was exhausting! we had to research and decide on our action. this week, we also had a few people from kpu (komisi pemilihan umum). they told us all about right to democracy. we are all still wondering why children can't vote. looking forward on our immersion next week. can't wait!
week 8 (part 1):
on monday, our friend's dad came. he is a police officer. he and his friends talked about terrorism. on tuesday, we finally made it to singapore. while we were there we learnt all about newater, a place where they clean and reuse water. on wednesday, we went to a SCHOOL called the international school of singapore, also known as iss. we also went to singapore civil defence and the nasa expedition. on thursday, we went to hillside world academy, un women and explored science center. friday was the last day and we went to jade and gems factory, river safari and changi museum then went back to jakarta.
week 8 (part 2):
on tuesday, we arrived at bali airport. we went to green camp. we did some activities like egg slide challenge, subak walk, campfire and went to night safari. we visited a school called bali island school, also known as bis and green school. we also went to coffee factory, watched the devdan show, went to silver factory and went to bali post tv. we stayed at alaya hotel. we also had a pajama party and had fun.
week 8 (part 3)
on The first day, we sat on the most important table in the school. so when we were there, we learned about myp, idu is interdisciplinary unit. then we learned more about myp. we had a tour of the myp classes. first, we went to the history class where they were learning about history. then, we went to the design class where the students were making artworks. then, we went to the library and did some research on the pyp exhibition. finally, we watched a movie. on the next day, we researched for the pyp exhibition, and then we went to the idu class. the myp students there were making songs about terrorism, global warming and others. then, we did more research on the exhibition. on the final day, we went to grade 10's personal project on the 8th floor. we were so happy because we got candies! after that, we joined grade 8 in their music class.
week 9
in this week, we went to a school that none of us has ever been to, it was called global jaya. this school was doing its pyp exhibition. the students played a song with different kinds of instruments. while there, we went to different booths. each group talked about a different invention they CREATED. from this visit, we learned that we need lots and lots of research for our pyp exhibition. we need to have a lot of information on our exhibition blog.
week 10
this week was our lucky week ever! WE INTERVIEWED ANOTHER JOURNALIST AND OUR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL (MR. PETER) APPROVED OUR ACTION! WE INTERVIEWED ibu DANA ISWARA. she is a former reporter from rcti, seputar indonesia. she answered a lot of our questions which helped us a lot too. during our meeting with mr peter, we were so nervous. we were scared that he woudn't accept our expression wall. but since its our lucky week, he said yes! in one condition, no profanity*. ok. we can deal with that. this week was also the start of parent mentoring. icha's mom came. she helped us with our surveys. oh ya! this week we also handed out our surveys. a LOT of my grade 5 friends wanted to answer it, and we were so happy! the grade 4 students and other teachers also answered. we have a total of 31 right now. we can't wait for next week though, we are having a term break !!! *profanity: a swear word; an oath
week 11
this week was a sucess! we finished all of our research, did our action aND finished our graphs. WE also finished our prezi presentation. the action we did WAS our expression wall, and luckily a lot of students and teachers wrote On the wall. their feelings and expressions were very interesting. one of them said "i'm excited for my tooth to fall out!" haha. all of our research is going well too. loi #1, check. loi #2, check. loi #3, check. all done. luckily, we found lots of ORGANIzATIONS that protect journalists and freedom of expression, like, cjr, ifex and others. jun ho also came up with good ADVANTAGES and disadvantages. gilang searched a lot too. we really hope to see further improvement next week :)
week 12
ON TUESDAY, AFTER THE PRINCIPAL'S ASSEMBLY, OUR PRINCIPAL, MR PETER, came and listen to the problems we were having and our actions. most of the actions are bazaars. to raise money for refugees or ORGANIzATION that promote human rights. after we talked, we took pictures with mr peter on the 3rd floor. it was good knowing that our principal supports our learning. thank you ms corita for arranging for mr peter to see us. thank you mr peter for your suport.
week 13
on thursday, we started to work on the design for our souvenir which is a bookmark and a sticker. We will give them to the students, teachers and parents who will listen and watch our performance. we also memorized our parts for our presentation and also the parts we are presenting from our blog. each of us are doing at lEast 2 parts. so it would be fair for all of us.
